Instructional Technology Practicum Fall 2019 Week 2 - RLDB and Monitor Training Overview - Assessment

During Week 2, I completed several in office tasks that consisted of creating courses in canvas, adding teaching assistants, students, and co-instructors to courses, and also completing training on Canvas Alerts, Respondus Monitor + LockDown Browser, and Camtasia. This week, I discussed the Practicum assignment with my supervisors Samira Laouzai (Deputy Director/Manager), Jerad Watson (Instructional Technologist), and Tyler Weldon (Canvas Administrator).

Needs Assessment: Needs assessment completed through qualitative surveys.

Problem Identified: Respondus Monitor and LockDown Browser Training

Training Topic: Respondus Monitor and LockDown Browser Training

Learners: Members of the UAB Division of eLearning and Professional Studies, IT Team, Media Team, and the ID Team will attend the training.

Surveys indicate there is a need for training with Respondus Monitor and LockDown Browser. This technology recently went live at UAB and serves as the newest technology resource available to faculty. Training is needed for faculty members and staff at the Division of eLearning and Prefessional Studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Working with supervisor Jerad Watson, we have created a LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor Guide that is available to faculty on the Division of eLearning and Professional Studies website.

My supervisor, Samira Laouzai, has asked me to complete an overview and timeline for the training session.

Instructional Technology Practicum Fall 2019 Week 1 - RLDB and Monitor PDF Guides

Week 1 - UAB Division of eLearning and Professional Studies

I was hired at UAB as an Instructional Technologist on July 29th, 2019. Since that time, I have created guides, tutorials, and assisted our Canvas Administrator with various tasks within the learning management system (Canvas) at UAB. The tasks I worked on within Canvas were adding users to courses, cross-listing courses, and copying course content into new courses in Canvas. (I have attached links to guides I have created.) Through guide creation, I have learned more about the technologies that I will become proficient in during my employment at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. These technologies include Kaltura, CATME, LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor, Canvas Learning Management System, among others. I have also participated in several online training sessions for various technologies and applications that UAB currently supports. During this time, I also completed APPQMR training, as required by the Division of eLearning and Professional studies.
